Gentlemen,

A new golf season is upon us. Our first MCPLA meeting will be on February 7, 2017 at 6:30pm at the Currie Park Golf Course. Please notify your club Directors prior to the March meeting.

The Schedule of the 2017 meetings is below. As President it is important that you appoint Directors that will actually go to the meetings. If a Club has no representation at a meetings, it is difficult to communicate the needs of the Club and MCPLA.

First and Second Team Directors should discuss any changes with the Club Captains prior to the February Meeting so any changes can be addressed at that meeting.

I will try and have speakers from the County at most of the meetings.

The meeting dates for the 2017 season are:

  • April 4
  • May 2
  • June 6
  • July 11
  • August 1
  • September 5
  • October 3
If all club rosters are returned in a timely manner I will have a complete package of  information for each club.

Please encourage all Directors to attend and pass on to any New Directors that may not be on our email list as of this date.

According to the County some MCPLA members do not have a county card…….. Each Club will check as in some cases members names are spelled wrong or just missed. Each club is requested to verify against the provided list and get back

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by President John Haeflinger .Also In attendance was Treasurer Ken Lauffer. The Vice President and Secretary were attending a Meeting at Brown Deer Golf Course representing the MCPLA and Brown Deer Men’s Club in discussion regarding moving the Driving Range at Brown Deer Park.

First two events completed, both courses did excellent job hosting and there were no on course issues. Year to date standings:
Currie-507 Brown Deer-437 Whitnall-420 Dretzka-356
Grant-353 Oakwood-335 Greenfiels-122

Brian expressed concern that there may be participants playing for clubs that have not paid their club dues. He also had concerns that all participants are not posting their scores in a timely manner. The President will email Clubs to follow up. Brian also discussed the possibility of each Club 2nd Team Director making their roster and submitting it to Brian rather than pairing by handicap.
Senior/MidAm results were discussed by Tournament Direct Bob Freuck. Participation was better and with all the volunteers he had everything went very smooth.

Arnold Walker Applications are out and Bob is looking for a good turnout at Brown Deer.

NIMAGA: September 24, 2016 at Evergreen. Applications will be out in late July or early August.

Symetra Tournament at Brown deer it still looking for volunteers August 16-21 at Brown Deer. Contact John Haeflinger for more info.

April 5, 2016                                                                                                     Milwaukee County Parks Administration

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by Vice President, Robert Cohn. In attendance
were officers and directors representing the following MCPLA clubs:

            Brown Deer – 2           Currie – 5                                Dretzka –1                   Grant – 3
            Greenfield - 1              Oakwood – 3                           Whitnall - 1                                        

 Chet Hendrickson, Golf Services Manager, Milwaukee County provided course updates.
             Course changes: Robert Van Duyse PGA, at Grant GC
             Work will begin soon on a new practice tee facility at Brown Deer GC including
                   expanded tee boxes, a larger landing area and the closing of an access road.
             Finalized Rosters for each course due mid/late April – details to follow
                    Bunker renovation completed at Oakwood GC as well as the addition of cart paths
                    on holes 10-18.
            All courses will have new riding carts (Yamaha) for 2016. Shields are installed on
                    the carts at Brown Deer GC.
            Junior Golf Day @ Currie GC / April 24, 2016. Details to follow.

Brown Deer GC has had several Ash trees removed (per Jon Canavan memo).
600 new rule books purchased: Each Club to receive 90% of 2015 membership, leaving
        approx. 50 available in case additional books needed. Books were free with shipping cost of $198.00 payable to the WSGA.
The Symetra Tour will again be held at Brown Deer GC in August and will be in need of volunteers.      Additional info to follow.

Volunteers are being accepted for the 2017 US Open to be held at Erin Hills.
