MCPLA Meeting Minutes April 1, 2014
Meeting called to order at 6:30pm by President John Haeflinger. In attendance were officers and directors representing the following MCPLA clubs:
Currie – 0 Brown Deer – 2 Dretzka – 1 Grant – 4 Greenfield-2 Oakwood – 1 Whitnall - 2
Personal acknowledgment provided by President John Haeflinger to MCPLA members that assisted in the Milwaukee County booth at the recent Golf Show. Promotion of MCPLA and County Golf Courses was well managed.
Treasurer's report absent.
Copies of MCPLA By-Laws distributed to those in attendance.
1st Team Report lacking as a 1st Team Team Director has not as yet been determined.
2nd Team report not present as there are no changes to date.
John Haeflinger reported that the WPLA Publinx Tournament will be held at Nagawaukee Golf Course on June 21-22, 2014.
Milwaukee County has request for CAP FUND to pay for new doors at Currie Golf Course. Discussion provided serious questions: Should not the expense be considered capital revenue on the county's behalf? What does the specified item do to “promote” golf? Motion made, seconded and carried to respectfully deny the request.
Due to the construction situation surrounding Milw. Conty. Parks Administration building, future MCPLA meetings will be held at Currie GC beginning with the May 6, 2014 meeting.
Additional business presented for discussion. Possible CAP FUND expenditures: Tee-Time clocks for MCPLA courses on 1st/10th tees with MCPLA advertisement. Scholarships for young course superintendents. Scholarships for young golf professionals. In addition to the previous questions raised relative to the Currie (door) request, would Milwaukee County match funds for scholarships/
